Friends But Not Lovers
This one's a long and complicated one, so hold on tight.
I have a female friend (who I will call M for her privacy and
mine). We met through mutual friends, and been a friend
of mine for about four years now. She first started expressing
feelings towards me (sexual as well as emotional) when
I was with my girlfriend (at the time). I didn't responded
to her feelings, but not how she wanted me to (she wanted
me to dump my girlfriend to be with her, and I didn't
want to do that). That was last year.
Fast forward to present day. We are both single. M repeatedly
claims that I "had my chance, " but says so in
a joking manner. She also just went through a bad relationship
and a bad breakup which STILL has reverberations four months
afterwards. I'm still very interested in her, both
in sexual and non-sexual (i.e. long-term relationship)
ways. So how do I go about expressing all this to M?
All serious thoughts are welcome. And please be nice to
