shadow surround me
shadows surround me
closing in on every side
thru their darkness
i slowly ride
watching closely
not sure why
wolves howling
somewhere near by
leaves rustle
in the breeze
the temperature drops
a few degrees
hooves crunch snow
breath like steam
fog rolls in
as if in a dream
riding in silence
not gaining ground
watching ahead
not looking around
shadows surround me
the sky they hide

yet onward i ride
what i seek
i cannot say
perhaps i will know
some how, some day
onward i trudge
weary to the bone
always searching
always alone
i sit by a tree
my eyes slowly close
exhaustion catches me
softly i doze
a voice calls me
tells me to follow
is it for real
it seems so hollow
i try to rise
silently i scream
is this for real
or is it a dream
