(Breaking Up Article)
I once lived at a backpackers resort by the beach, and was
constantly meeting lovely women from all over the world.
Needless to say, it was inevitable that I had to eventually
fall in love with one of them. She came from Japan and was
the most beautiful girl I'd ever laid eyes on. One night,
we were all getting drunk, and somehow I ended up beside
her in the hammock showing her how to best enjoy a cold beer
by mixing some coconut rum in with it. One thing led to another
and we ended up spending the night smooching on the beach.
We became inseperable and were not only discussing marriage,
but also the names of our future kids together.
Alas, it all came unstuck when her visa expired and she had
to return to Japan to find herself a career. Her trip to Australia
was a present from her father for finishing college and
she had her heart set on becoming an editor for a diving magazine.
She returned to Australia about six months later and mysteriously
found a bra under my bed that was too small to be hers... I'd
never seen it before. Maybe one of my house mates snuck in
there one time without my knowledge... anyway, she was
convinced that I had someone else. It didn't bother
her that I might have slept with someone else, (even though
I know I hadn't done)... But what did bother her was
that she was convinced that I was lying about it and so she
could never trust me again. No matter what I said, she wouldn't
wear it, and that was the last I ever heard from her.
Looking back on it after 10 years have now passed, I think
she needed an excuse to be able to let me go, and the bra was
very convenient for her... sometimes I wonder if she put
it there herself just so she could make the excuse.
I have no bad memories of her. She is still alive and well
within my heart, even though I shall probably never see
her again. But I do know that I'll never fall in love
with a woman who isn't a resident of my country anymore.
The pain was too great for me to want to go through all that
again!
