Re: Understandin the word no

Pinklipstick, you brought up some good questions and I
would like to take a shot at some of them. From what I have
observed, most people do not want a dramatic ordeal when
they are not interested in pursuing a relationship with
someone. They try to get out of it with the minimum hassle
and leave the other person some dignity.

OK, I have known several guys that get dates by being persistent.
Now the *really* successful ones at this know how to be more
charming than annoying and do pay attention to the lady.
They also know when they are beating a dead horse. Unfortunately,
many of the guys observing him just see he keeps asking and
has lots of dates.

I also know of people that are absolutely fascinated with
a lady and have this romantic idea that it will all work out
if they keep trying. One guy I knew did months of research
on his family tree to see if he had any Jewish women in his
maternal line just because the object of his affection
would only date Jewish men. Believe it or not, that guy was
harmless but it is a good example of how far a lonely person
will go out of their way to make the most abject "No"
into a "Maybe".

There are other reasons that people just don't get
it and we can't control their understanding or responses.
The only thing we can do is be clear, polite and hope they
move on.
