Do you want to be healthy?

If you want to be healthy, the first thing you have to decide
is "healthy by what measure?" For some folks,
flab is fine as long as you can get up and move around; for
others, "healthy" is only achieved when you're
always ready to run an obstacle course. Most of the rest
of us (me, included) are somewhere in between.
The second thing you have to decide is how much it's
worth to you. Some folks consider walking to and from the
refrigerator enough exercise; others feel the need to
go to the gym for an hour or more every day. Most of the rest
of us fall somewhere between.
Finally, you have to consider what you think is desirable
and acceptable as the end result of your exercise program.
Do you want to be a tight, fit hardbody with 6-pack abs and
a butt you could use to open beer bottles? In that case, you
need to find a good gym and a good trainer.
Do you want to be fit enough that people won't mind when
you take your clothes off, and enough to be able to last more
than a few minutes during sex (or other exercise) without
needing rest? In that case, you should eat a balanced diet
(and not TOO much of one), put in 30 minutes or more of decent
exercise, like calisthenics, brisk walking, swimming,
vigorous tennis or something similar, PLUS you have to
add this to living a fairly active life - if you sit behind
a desk all day (as more and more of us do), you should at least
double this.
Finally, you should consider the things you put into your
body. Smoking has no beneficial effects. Drinking more
than a glass of wine a day has no beneficial effects, and
alcohol has a LOT of calories. Fatty and/or fried foods
lower your endurance, reduce your blood flow, and often
make you smell less than pleasant. Drugs of various sorts
can make your skin and eyes look sallow and unhealthy.
If you want to attract attractive people, you'll do
better if you are one yourself, and healthy people are not
only considered more attractive by most people, but are
also more able to DO something about it when others are attracted
to them. Take care of yourself, and more people will want
to take care of you!
