Training sensibly
The most important thing to consider and a point often neglected
by people who suddenly decide to get an increased level
of fitness is to approach the new routine sensibly.
1) A Pre training health check with your doctor is essential
if you are new to or have not trained in a long period (6 months
plus)
2) Join a gymnasium/fitness center with a TRAINED fitness
coach-nutritionalist and have a fitness check and induction
where the specialist will customise a routine to help you
achieve your goals and also take into account your current
physical condition.
3)TAKE YOUR TIME! Rushing in to a heavy training program
on the first few days/weeks can cause injury, delayed onset
muscle soreness which will in turn dampen confidence,
enthusiasm and the time taken to recover will mean you don't
actually improve at all!
4) Approach fitness with the understanding that there
are no 'quick' fixes or miracles to getting there.
It's a long road, but not necessarily hard. It takes
a positive and structured approach, but the rewards gained
by a softly softly approach in the first formative months,
will help you reap the long term benefits.
